30 May 2025

On April 10, 2025, our association Slow Fiber had the honor of participating in a historic event in Ravenna, on the occasion of the official visit of the Royals of England, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, accompanied by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and his daughter Laura Mattarella.

A special event for the 80th anniversary of the Liberation

The initiative, which celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the province of Ravenna, saw the presence of numerous Slow Food Presidia and many entities committed to promoting sustainability, biodiversity and local culture. In this context, Slow Fiber had the opportunity to talk about its mission: to promote a sustainable, ethical and environmentally friendly textile supply chain.

The voice of sustainable textiles

Our president, Dario Casalini, together with a representation of the 28 associated companies, welcomed the Royals at a small dedicated station, explaining the values and objectives of our network: good, healthy, clean, fair and durable textiles. Our participation was made possible thanks to the trust and shared vision with Carlo Petrini, founder of Slow Food, who has always supported our commitment to a concrete alternative in the textile sector.

Conscious fabrics, like food

Just as Slow Food has transformed the way we think about food, we believe that textiles also deserve a more conscious approach. Every day, our skin – our largest organ – comes into contact with fabrics that can have an impact on our health and the environment. Too often these materials come from opaque and unsustainable supply chains, based on the exploitation of labor and intensive production that generates pollution and waste.

Change is possible

The road to profound change is long, but the example of Slow Food and the support of visionaries like Carlo Petrini and Barbara Nappini give us strength and motivation. We will continue to work so that a new culture can also be established in the textile industry: one made of respect, quality and responsibility.
